Zomato to shut office catering business – ET Retail

NEW DELHI: Online food delivery platform Zomato is in the process of folding up its office catering business, as the pandemic has forced most employees to stay away from work, sources said.

The Delhi NCR-headquartered food tech company had acquired Bengaluru-based online caterer and office canteen aggregator Tonguestun Food in 2018 for an estimated $18 million to foray into the space, which industry executives said is highly unorganised.

The acquisition had marked Zomato’s entry into the business-to-business (B2B) segment.

When contacted by TOI, a Zomato spokesperson said, “With most corporates looking at WFH as a permanent way of functioning, we have evolved our [email protected] services to cater to the new normal. Our renewed services enable corporates to serve employees based anywhere in the country. We already have more than 100 corporates onboard and are catering to over three lakh employees, right in the safety of their own homes,” she said.
